That doesn't match..

15 Mar. 2011 Posted by dulschm in Desgin

"Come on...." you say, because that is the only reply that will do. HOW can they not see it? YOU would never put those things together like THAT. It is SO obvious.

You know when two things don't match, or just don't "GO" together. You also can bring things that are seemingly disparate together into a cohesive whole. How do you do it? You can't quite explain it, but you just know when it is right. And more importantly, when it is wrong.

We each have a passion in our lives where we can see things, with our careful eye, which others do not see. For you it may be clothing, accessories, interiors or gardens, but for me, it is wood.

If you are like me, it drives you mad to see something put together "just WRONG". It causes my pain to see a stunning piece of wood used in an inappropriate way. Any time a material hasn't been used to full advantage, it seems like such a waste.

This isn't to say that it gives me the most pleasure when people rave about my design choices. In fact it is quite the opposite. I am most happy when a piece doesn't "demand" any attention, but instead simply and honestly fits in with its surroundings. I once read on Design Milk that "Good design is BOLD, Great design is Invisible", and I couldn't agree more.

I strive to build pieces (I'd love to build something great for you) that fit into your life so well, that you can't remember how you ever got by without it.
